Our Pediatric Services

Children deserve care that is both comprehensive and compassionate, tailored to their individual needs from birth through young adulthood. Coastal Pediatrics Medical Group provides trusted medical guidance and support at every stage of growth. From preventive checkups and urgent visits to in-office procedures and lab testing, families can count on us to deliver the right care at the right time.

Primary Care

Good health begins with consistent, proactive care. Through well child visits, sports physicals, and same-day sick appointments, Coastal Pediatrics monitors growth, prevents illness, and addresses health concerns quickly. These visits give families the reassurance that their child is developing as they should while providing the opportunity to catch and treat issues early.

Well Child Checks—also known as yearly physical exams—are the foundation of your child’s health care from birth through young adulthood. These visits include monitoring growth and development, updating immunizations, performing preventive screenings, and providing guidance for each stage of life. They are also a time for parents to bring up questions or concerns so we can work together to support your child’s overall health and well-being.

Sports Physicals are designed to make sure your child is healthy and safe to participate in athletic activities. These visits include a full review of medical history, physical examination, and discussion of any health risks that could affect sports participation. Our goal is to clear your athlete for play, address any concerns early, and promote injury prevention and long-term wellness.

We specialize in same-day sick visits so your child can get the care they need, when they need it. Whether it’s a sudden illness or urgent concern, our team provides prompt, compassionate care. Common reasons for urgent visits include:

  • Acute Migraine Care
We can provide nausea treatment and pain relief injections here in the office. We want to keep you out of the ER.  Then we develop a plan to manage pain and prevent recurrence in the future.
  • Antibiotic Therapies
If your child is not tolerating their oral medication or has failed oral medication therapy, we have antibiotic injections to improve treatment outcomes.
  • Mild/Moderate Respiratory Distress If your child is having trouble breathing, wheezing, or showing signs of respiratory illness, we can evaluate and treat them right away. For severe or rapidly worsening symptoms, we recommend visiting the ER immediately.
  • Steroid Injections When appropriate, we provide steroid injections to reduce inflammation and speed recovery from conditions such as asthma flare-ups, severe allergic reactions, or other urgent needs. Our priority is getting your child feeling better quickly while giving parents peace of mind.

Consultations & Support

Sometimes families need more than a checkup. Whether you’re seeking a second opinion, guidance with immunizations, or support with feeding and nutrition, our providers at Coastal Pediatrics offer a range of services to help. We listen carefully, answer questions, and connect you with trusted specialists when extra care is needed.

We welcome families looking for guidance, reassurance, or another perspective on their child’s health. Whether it’s a complex diagnosis or a routine concern, our providers take the time to review your child’s history, answer questions, and provide thoughtful recommendations.

Our team offers compassionate lactation support to help mothers and babies establish successful feeding routines. We provide education, strategies, and encouragement tailored to each family’s needs, ensuring both mother and baby are supported during this important stage.

We also work closely with the CMH New Parent Resource Center and support other local breastfeeding support services.  Please visit BreastfeedVentura.org for an updated list of lactation resources.

Vaccines are a key part of keeping children healthy. We provide immunization counseling to help families understand the recommended schedule, address questions or concerns, and make informed decisions about their child’s care.

For certain situations, TeleHealth visits may be available, allowing families to access care from the comfort of home. These appointments provide flexibility and convenience, while still giving you access to the same trusted providers you know from our office.

When your child needs care beyond our office, we coordinate referrals to trusted specialists. Our providers maintain close communication with families and specialists to ensure care remains seamless and coordinated.

We understand that mental health is just as important as physical health. Our team provides referrals to mental health professionals and supports families in accessing the right resources for challenges such as anxiety, depression, or behavioral concerns.

Nutrition plays a key role in your child’s growth and development. We partner with registered dieticians to provide families with specialized guidance for healthy eating, weight management, and addressing dietary concerns such as allergies or restricted diets.

For children and teens who may need extra support with healthy weight management, we can provide resources and referrals to structured programs. These clinics offer tools and coaching for families to create sustainable, long-term lifestyle changes.

Procedures

Not every health concern requires a trip to urgent care or the ER. Coastal Pediatrics provides a variety of in-office procedures—from laceration repair to wart treatment—in a setting that is safe, familiar, and child-focused. These services allow families to get effective treatment close to home, with the comfort of a team they already know and trust.

We provide circumcision procedures in a compassionate, family-centered setting. Our team ensures parents are fully informed, and that the procedure is performed with care, comfort, and safety as top priorities.

For minor sports and orthopedic injuries, we offer evaluation and treatment to help children recover quickly and safely. We address sprains, strains, and minor injuries in-office, and coordinate referrals when more advanced care is needed.

Our providers treat minor cuts and wounds with expert care. We carefully clean, close, and dress lacerations to promote proper healing and minimize scarring, while making the experience as gentle as possible for children.

We can perform cauterization procedures for common pediatric issues such as recurrent nosebleeds and umbilical granulomas in newborns. These quick, effective treatments help reduce discomfort and promote healing.

Stubborn warts can be treated in our office with liquid nitrogen therapy. This procedure is safe, effective, and designed to eliminate warts while minimizing discomfort.

Molluscum contagiosum is a common childhood skin condition. We provide treatment using cantharidin (“beetle juice”), which helps remove lesions safely and effectively with minimal discomfort for children.

Laboratory Testing

Fast, accurate testing is an important part of quality pediatric care. Coastal Pediatrics offers a wide range of in-house lab services, including strep, flu, RSV, glucose, and anemia testing. These tools give our providers the answers they need to guide treatment quickly, so families can spend less time waiting and more time focusing on recovery.

We perform rapid strep testing and urine analysis to detect bacterial infections quickly, allowing us to begin treatment and relieve symptoms without delay.

When your child has certain cold or flu-like symptoms, in-office rapid viral testing helps us identify the cause. We offer rapid testing for common viruses including Influenza, COVID, and RSV to support timely and appropriate care.

Low hemoglobin levels may indicate anemia, a common issue in children. This simple blood test helps us identify deficiencies and provide recommendations for nutrition or treatment as needed.

Glucose testing helps us screen for diabetes and monitor blood sugar concerns. For accurate results, this test requires a morning appointment and that your child fast for 12 hours beforehand.

Urine testing can identify a variety of health concerns, including infections, dehydration, or other underlying issues. Our providers use these results to guide appropriate treatment and follow-up care.

We provide TB skin testing to check for tuberculosis exposure. This quick and routine test is often required for school, camp, or certain activity clearances.
